ABOUT THE AUTHOR

So who's the nerd writing all of these posts? I'm a queer woman (she/her) who is currently doing a PhD in religion, sexuality, and gender identity in Ancient Rome, and have a B.A and M.A in Ancient History and Classics. 99% of my studies are spent talking about gender, sex, and sexuality, and how they interact with race, and culture. I think Ancient History is a really cool, interesting subject, but it's also quite exclusive. Most of the scholars you hear about are old white men, and most of the schools you can take Classics in are private. But Ancient History should be for everyone - and the famous ancient people should be treated like the messy, slutty, ridiculous dummies that they were. So that's what the Queer Classicist is all about. Hope you enjoy.
